Hi Everyone
I feel the need to share a very important experience i recently had. It will sound a bit mushy but please bare with me, it has a great moral.
Last week my Hubby and I went to Mauritius. We stayed at the most fabulous resort and had the all inclusive package- this means 3 meals a day as much all you can eat and ALL drinks included.
Before the trip I was nervous- was I going to come back looking like an elephant after the all you can eat and drink availability?? I was like a food Nazi in the weeks leading up to the holiday (my husband can lay testament to this). I was stressed and in a rut and trying to control whatever I could through what I ate.
It took me a few days to "let go" when we got to our destination. We ate like kings! We had 2-3 course meals (and once a four course meal!) three times a day and glasses/bottles of wine ad lib. It was the first time I truly relaxed. We lay around most days with very little recreational exercise (even-though there was a great gym at the resort).
We came home a week later having barely gained weight- i only gained about 1.5kg and I don't intend to lose it :) I have realized that I like being a bit curvier!
So, the moral of the story is- don't be scared of food. Enjoy it and be mindful when you eat. Food restriction is not a punishment or a means to control life's happenings. Try to remember this and when stress hits- take a breather :)
